Title:Rave On (Buddy Holly Cover) Artist:Julian Casablancas

danceyrselfclean:

Julian Casablancas, Rave On (from the album Rave On Buddy Holly)

Well first The Black Keys killed it with “Dearest,” then Modest Mouse made “That’ll Be The Day” so Isaac Brock-esque (and oh that was amazing) and now Julian Casablancas getting his Rave On is pretty damn great too.  I mean there are no surprises here.  It’s exactly what you’d expect from him.  So yes it’s a bit chaotic but it’s oh so I’m going to hell in a leather jacket delightful.  I can’t wait to hear this whole album!  I’m dying to get my ears on Florence Welch getting her Buddy Holly vibe on!

are you fucking kidding me?? OMG!

Ok, I could live without it.  Were you ever my age? No I doubt it.  A Native American feather.  Degenerates look better in leather
Blow it up
Trippin’ out is fun on the weekend.  But you don’t feel as young with a girlfriend.  I’m bored of trying to deal with your ego.  Play it like that and it will though
Blow it up

I don’ t have a heart because…

My two most expected albums this year were Angles - The Strokes and What did you expect from The Vaccines? - The Vaccines

My life is now complete. The Vaccines stole my heart and it should be drowning in the sea by now, I don’t know if i’ll ever get it back, but that’s ok because I already sold my soul to them, just as I did to google when I switched to chrome (drifting away). Anyways, as I said when I found them, with them in this world this year is ” Brits do it better” comeback … and I know they do…

Julian Casablancas, who I’m finally over with, (because Albert Hammond Jr now has a twitter) is another one who has a piece of my heart… but I’m not gonna start with him right now…

Basically, I feel “Blow it up” is  Julian Casablancas song, and if The Vaccines don’t give it to him, I do… here you go Jules…

I don’t have a heart because…

What did you expect from The Vaccines? - The Vaccines

” I won’ t tell if you don’ t tell” to that we resume ourselves today … Long island blues is a song that I have been loving for a long time by myself… not telling anyone.  I only shared it with Adriana who immediately answered with ” What! happy new year! I don’t even know where you got that from… ” and I don’t either …

The folk reference I’m bringing today is nothing new, and I know it…but like everything in this blog, it comes from what first came to my head when… and  the first that came to my head when I heard Long Island Blues was Bob Dylan’s Love minus zero/no limits.  Although, this isn’t one of those literal melodic and harmonic similarities, you’ll have to let it grow on you…

On the other hand, nobody understands how Long Island blues didn’t make it to the album, it was released only as those extra demos that come in the album deluxe version, some other say that it wouldn’t go well with the album, please! we had Ludlow St. there too right? and it has the same folkish atmosphere, or is it me making stuff up because of the urban decay subject? Yes, Ludlow St. is part of my musical urban manifestos playlist but that is part of another blog that I have not yet written.

“I won’t tell if you don’t tell” a eso nos resumimos hoy…
