When the song came out, I think half of the fashion shows in the world featured it, not even knowing it was a rip off of the Rolling Stones’ “The Last Time.” - Michel Gaubert

Bittersweet symphony vs. The Last Time by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

I don’t know why I avoided Beastie Boys new album all last year… Today I decided to give it a listen, since I’ve been craving some “boys music” after all the dreamy pop covers I’ve been posting and listening to.

It wasn’t a surprise at all to find me loving the album, the fucking boys are back, straight from Make some Noise (1st track), which seems like a sequel to (You gotta) Fight for your right (to party), the album does not stop to breath… So, I’m gonna post another similarity in sound I found while listening to the album. Long Burn the Fire, the sequel to Sabotage.

Long Burn the Fire vs. Sabotage by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

I think I hate making posts about Dios (Malos), but let’s help these guys…

I got to know Dios (Malos) back in 2008, when people could make themselves fans of things in facebook… So I remember I had a status like this one “Ifigenia became fan of Dios” which was kind of funny for people who speaks spanish becase Dios actually means God in english.  They are very little known in my country and I guess all over the world too, so, let’s help them.

I review this similarity in a little green book where i keep track of things, and this one is a note probably from March 2011… but i saw it again to day… I hope everyone can hear it too.

Weezer is another band I enjoy quite a lot…

Later Skater vs. Island in the Sun by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

Midnight city vs. So in Love by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

A little bit more than a week ago I was in one of the night places in my Caracas and enjoying the music very much…

Then I started to hear OMD’s “So in Love” and immediately thought of M83’s “Midnight City”…

I guess is the rhythm, but I’m also certain the saxophone plays a big part in helping me connect the both of them.

The sun vs. alarmala de tos by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

Latin references for the people, this song by The Naked and famous was on this weeks episode of Ringer (shame on me) and it sounds excatly la like Alarmala de Tos by Cafe Tacuba, a band from Mexico. There are many similarities between these two songs, they have alomost the same structure.

gentleman vs. the times they are a changing by Ifigenia Beaverhausen on Grooveshark

Gentlewoman by Coma Cinema first stroke me as a song that could be similar to Angeles by Elliott Smith, but later on as I listened further I found some similarites with Bob Dylan’s The Times they are A Changing, since I, myself am a Gentlewoman, I’m gonna stick with the classic, so here you go…

No one like Morrissey to know who are or will be his sons…

Ever since he took under his wing (on a way) The Drums, and after I went to their concert and felt in love with them I knew…

First it was their whole attitude and now this tribute, because if this isn’t a tribute to “This charming man” I honestly don’t know what else it could be…

“I will go out tonight, but I don’t have a stitch to wear…”

knickersandfags:

I Want  to go to Portsmouth

I posted this a while ago… in my other blog… and I’ll repost that here on tumblr

It’s the first time I do the “transcript a chat” thing here, but it’s imperative in this “situation”. From the conversation with my friend from Ghostselector, the memorable phrase and subject for this post was “it’s like abba when you’re on cough syrup”.
G: You have to download right now a song by metronomy. The Bay… it’s reaaaally something.
I: i’m on it… right now
G: Ok, the album is amaaazing, but that song!. The album is called “English Riviera”, go figure. Pretty predictable of me.
I: You had me at “english riviera”
G: I mean, of course!
-an hour later-
I: Looooovely!, Uber loooved this album. It’s “torali” english riviera
G: It’s like, “we shit on all of that bossa and shit and we don’t have to sound like the xx”
I: I’m in pain. All of those summer festivals!!! (metronomy in a lot of them)
G: Do you think i can get over “the look” and “the bay”?. Fuck, I’ve always wanted to see them live. I want to go to the english riviera.
I: It has a lot of references!! I think I can hear abba in there too…. I absolutely love it!!
G: When I heard “Cause this isn’t Paris and this isn’t London and is not Berlin and is not Hong Kong. Not Tokyo, if you want to go … I’ll take you back one day” I died. It’s like abba on cough syrup. It’s like contained “container”. I’m applying the concept for everything, you know me. The best thing is I actually heard the whole thing with no expectations at all. I love when that happens.
I: They wrote that shit for us and they don’t even know… It’s pretty hard the pitchfork “situation”, nobody will pay attention to that album until pitchfork reviews it, and says it’s amazing.
G: But, you, me and all of us, pure dignity when that happens.
P.S: we don’t sound as funny in english
P.S 2: from musikdna.wordpress.com March 31, 2011

“Won’t you take a walk outside?”
-Oh no.
“Can’t you find some other guy?”
-Oh no.
“1 9 6 9 what’s that sound?”
-Oh no.
Keeping down the underground
